Such waves of sorrow

+ such waves of sorrow +
I cannot express waves of sorrow
Lumps of cement in gut
Foul taste ionised in my mouth
Thoughts sluggish slow with dread
At thinking of sacrifices made
Those soon dead so very very brave
Knowing the dangers as geiger counters
This radioactive hell shrilly register
For all incompetence and lack of leadership
For the deceiving of world and media
Were not jobs they did
Their only one to cool reactor down
Save as many as they could
Lay down their lives for common good
It was never meant to be this way
They core and air never meant to meet
The unthinkable did occur
Not one catastrophe but both
Earthquake and tsunami in ordered magnitude
Beyond what the plant could stand
Still it stood and bore the brunt
And those Fukushima Fifty did not flee
Even as fires and explosions saw
As radiation invisible ate at them
As desperate plans in desperation they actioned
To cease the radioactive reaction
Knowing the consequences as they toiled
To themselves yet never recoiled
Hoses splashing sea water against such fury
Become so radioactive in caskets lead need to bury
These selfless heroes trying to save as many as they could
Laying down their lives for the common good.
