Modern tundra

* modern tundra *
I heard your call
I was on the tundra
Or some modern equivalent of dull concrete
Nothing lived there
Birds and animals banished
Whole world exposed to wind
Others walking past
First appear scarecrow stark on horizon
So your call was appreciated
Brought humanity back to my thoughts
Which had been numbed by this nothingness
Battered by concrete solidness
As if what I was
Marked by what I crossed
Feet made sore bashing across
Unyielding unfeeling slabs
Fortunately your call lifted me
My feet skipped lightly cross
The hardness of world and life
Joyous thoughts lightening my load
Bestowing a smile on my thoughts.
