Faded

*faded*
Your smile is lost
In daily worries
Your colour fades
As old photos do
Twinkle in your eye
To better judgement dips
All these markers found
Dealings of having been around
Seen the dreams and broken promises
Wonder if it were better then
When you believed more of them
When your smile in warm embrace
Fill a room with joy and laughter
Now you don't compare your dreams
Instead transposed to bricks and mortar
The suburban plague has you now
Chronic fatigue of the heart
The lonely canyons of the mall
All the things you buy
The got to go things to do
The time back you cannot purchase
No matter how hard you try
Your smile is lost
And kilometres on treadmill won't
Return you to where you were
The days have passed and worn off
Veneer of innocence and wonder
All which was looks different now
The reasons for rising seem strange
To spend your time in strangers company
With whom you have no common thread
Better to lie longer in your bed
Capture fragments of dreams were once
Knit them together like quilt bedpsread
Wrap them around your body cold
Your body tired and body cold
All the life you knew washed
And how your smile bright faded.
