To beat the Bush

** to beat the Bush **
Hard dreams are these
Carved from stubborn persistent bush
No chance for rest for constant is
The Bush and its push
To reclaim the land tamed
Overwhelm our civilised order
Even in the best manicured lawns
Tries to take root and usurp
We invaders who with fire and saw
Intend to beat the Bush back
With every season Bush rebounds
Constant in its attack
And so these dreams of acreage
Of family hearth in family home
Dependant on eternal vigilance
For Bush will never leave us alone.
