The remorse and regrets dragged
Through winter snow or summer sand
Drag marks on display
Showing how we are weighed
Showing how we are slowed
By holding onto disappointments past
Instead of cutting loose our burden
Taking fresh chances and initiatives
Risking all as we did before
We are weighed down and hamstrung
By history we should deplore
Because if once we failed
We should now be wiser to the reason
Of why our failure threw us back
Step forward with wisdom accrued
And do our very best anew
Leaving the stuff of drag marks
The load we would carry ever through
Each fresh trial and challenge
Across the journey of our life
Set it down beside the path
Ignore the woe it brought
Instead take forward the wisdom taught
Live wiser not more bitter
To our own life learning's be ever true.
