The hubritic country

* the hubritic country *
How often wrong are we
The self satisfied smug and free
Seeing other nations in disorder
Comfortable about our own borders
Can't you see the hubris grow
We the lucky country believe we now know
Are a chosen people with chosen wealth
Ore to sustain our nation's health
Yet how we use this Nature's gift
As through country's precious soil sift
Be a true telling if we deserve
To this country ourselves justly reserve
If in future lucky country destitute become
Our pure Nature to pollutants succumb
All the earnings we gain now
Be worthless if future follies sow
For in Time we will see all the clearer
We were not of country's future a better bearer
We were in truth in a lucky place
And our failure to appreciate a sorrowful disgrace.
