Though on politics and sport holds strong views
Constantly surprised at what the world reveals
And how the politicians suddenly think
Can pull the wool over our eyes
Seen so many seasons
Travelled almost everywhere
And you discover in conversing
A little trick to behold
The talker is so silent
And listens even more intently
As you are lead so art fully
Into talking about yourself
Another person pick-pocketed
For knowledge to add to the wealth
Of ideas and people encountered
Lives lead beyond the place
Where the talker stands
And with our memories captured
The speaker listening can extend
Grandeur of this knowledge held
And become a more rounded conversationalist
For when next is travelling down.
