Simple beauty

** simple beauty **
I look upon your lines
So elegant and restrained
Time has rubbed soft harsh edges
Brash glare of freshness settled
Comfortable with self and location
Character and strength of being
Infuse every part of you
As I glance across I wonder
What stories you could tell
How the passing years have changed
Speed and life of those around you
What memories you might hold
Locked in very essence of yourself
Echoes of children's laughter
Seen rise and fall of love affairs
Sickness joy hard times and good
Been a part of you
And even when they go away
And you are left alone
Your elegant lines and gentle beauty
Lure others in to stay
Who wish a home not audacious
Just a simple dwelling of Federation brick
A warm and cosy suburban home.
