Wish to unknow

** wish to unknow **
These distant dreams cannot touch
The senses dull do not disrupt
This egg of pain grown inside
This bitter sac of bitterness I hide
The Earth trembles beneath gravity's thrall
I note not as disturbance rocks
My own pain deep inside I hold
A pricking sparking constant
Makes me know I am alive
Despite the impulse to unravel
To lock the shutters and pull down the blinds
To ignore all the ignorant world
And submit to gloom and dark of mind
For so it is as I reflect
On this hand Life so harshly dealt
An innocent with no evil ways
A lifelong affliction upon her set
A curse that cannot be seen
Yet will impact everything she does
Her freedom becomes curtailed
Her every action to herself becomes a threat
Those things for granted she previously did
Now carry greater risk
The brain by a malady beset
At any moment waves may twist
A seizure take her away
A loss of place and time
Such a danger to unexpected stasis take
When world hurries on its rough way
And whatever actions you were performing
Carry on without your conscious intervention
There is medicine and therapy
Warning signs and training to take
To allow you to carry on
In a world made partially safe
All the time there is the knowing
Nothing is as it was before
This knowledge of this threat you carry
To all you join you must relate
And from there deal with how they treat you
Knowing what you would wish to forget.
