+ Like paddling ducks +

+ Like paddling ducks +
These trampling feet
These expectations wild
They see how we achieve
And think it must be simple
Mark not the hours spent dull
Perpetual need to charge forward
Unrelenting pressure constant building
To pay the bills and address the costs
Of home and daughter and son
We are neither rich nor poor
Our comfortable existence dependant
On uncomfortable hours expended
In the performance of toil for others
When we would prefer to exhaust our hours precious
In devotions to ourselves
To preserving and enjoying our own mental health
Storing memories joyous as if were summer nuts
For any time of scarcity ahead.
