Instinctive still

** Instinctive still **
Soft hair warm skin sharp teeth
The animal in us all
The tribal habit set
From pack instincts long ago
Perhaps more to dogs than apes
Is where our lineage rests
If we are naked apes
Our social lines proclaimed canine
How we seek approval from each other
Often deigning to sniff each other arses
In our selection of communication
Catch scent of success or loss
Mark the fear or dominance
In those of our pack near
So it has been and we still retain
These ancestral precedents archaic
In a world of speed and silicone
Losing our status to the machines we build.
