Summer picnic

* Summer picnic *
Between sun rays scamper
Heart light and dreaming
A natural high from cut grass
Floating lazily meandering butterflies
The joyous giggle shrieks of children
Around us the park life moves
Mothers pushing prams shoulders bare
A dog inquisitively inspecting every tree
Picnic blankets dotted across the ground
All is Summer with cold chicken and green salad
Drinking from long necked bottles perspiring
And all about the buzz of busy bees
Working as eagerly as we shirk
As they labour to fill their larders
And we our memory stores stock
Against the moments cold approaching
When seasons swing changes again
And Sun is gone and picnicking mocked.
