Airport dawn

*airport dawn*
Melbourne skyline stretched
A sky of flattened hues
On horizon pinks float to orange
And as across dome of sky colours sketch
A bathtub ring of purple fading
Rising to a hint of translucent green
Before the twelve shades of blue takeover
At peak sky becomes Isfanan tiled blue
And light is even and still
Early morning calm even at an airport
The aircraft seem to hang in the air
Gliding in to land upon scruffed runways
Later this scene may grow hectic
For now the slumbering barely woken atmosphere
Of a dairy farm on a cool winter's morn
The aircrew parking aircraft unrushed
A singular lack of urgency is overall
Even the baristas in the terminals
Are dozing and unhurried as they provide
The fuel of economy to jaded businessmen
Suited up for another trip
Into the great blue yonder
A taxi trip and meetings many
As they try and make this trip pay.
