Cross seasons love

* cross seasons love *
Those cold hands of Winter seek
Warmth of Summer in your lips
Pale as ice and parchment creases of age
Try and flow over supple skin of youth
There is wisdom here you think
Or wisdom from experience will be earned
When Eve and Methuselah lie down together
And meld their bodies as one
The bountiful orchards nestle desert land
Fertility and ripeness given glimpse of barrenness ahead
An exchange of views only confirms
Distances between heart and head
Elasticity of skin has failed
Joints creak and bones rub
Weariness sets in early as the dusk
Stamina like Time already consumed
While one of Youth springs forward
Unrestrained by body aches
Ill-temperate selfish youth in lusts
Serves no penance for indulgences taken
And he of dry and frost bitten of hair
He knows he cannot keep up
For now they meet and he steals
A drink of energy from youth's cup
Briefly in her exuberance recalls how once it was
And in the mirror sees himself as a king
Not The Fool in Time's cruel court.
