The Sleeplessness *

The Sleeplessness *

 * the sleeplessness *
Sleep would not claim me
Not a young man's issue
These are tired bones
In an older tired body
Hours spent in repose
Seem wasted upon waking
As if eyes had not closed
Brain stumbles on simple things
Names elude verbal grasp
Concepts dissipate in mist
All thoughts fragmentary
A fog of numbness
Obscures daylife brightness
As weave way desperate towards
The ending of the day
Another opportunity to sleep
Perchance to dream rest restored.
