In these longer days
Those sorrow and loss days
Tears gather remorsefully
Behind facade projecting normality
Conceals the uneven gears
Grating against each other
Of a normal life disrupted
Of hope by sorrow corrupted
A sense of isolation impinges
On every relationship stated
There is no escaping
A loss of connection broadly
To the world around me
As the sorrow infects every cell
Breaks every bone anew
A pain intensely lingering
Of loss and death of feeling
A numbness so cold
As barriers seal you off
Unable to reach across
To others who might save you
As waves completely drown you
A lost soul of sorrow
Unable to shield self from
The chill of life in these longer days
Days of sorrow and loss.
