Ever closer

Ever closer

 * ever closer *
The space the space the space
Humanity as a danish dessert
Layer upon layer upon layer
Pressed ever closer together
Such world finds exception
In my antipodean heart
The old land new world
Clinging to coastal edges
By comparison sparsely populated
To the reality of the Old World
Where cheek and jowl standard
Constant presence in landscape
Of humanity in plague proportions
Little doubts these numbers
Encourage famine and disease
Results in clustered madness
Of modern skyward turning cities
People growing raw from constant rubbing
Against each other's presence.
