Maintaining humanity

Maintaining humanity

* maintaining humanity *
The processes put in place
To manage our human race
Dams to hold water
Pipes long and broad to deliver
Roads on which to travel
Or railways for too long spurned
Multitude of apartment blocks
Division of earth ever smaller
Into blocks on which we live
And the rich get richer
The poor get hungry
As the processes in place
To maintain human race
At seams begin to split
Standard of living begins to slip
The onward upward spiral slows
Is this as far as human race goes
Bound upon this planet bare
Destroy all life and air
Until we have nothing left
Though rich grow richer
All in conclusion are bereft.
