parent giants

parent giants

  * parent giants *
Your shoes are heavy and so large
As if a giant resided here
Shirts could be sails
Coat a massive blanket
How those little eyes watch
The giantness of ourselves
We who birthed and mind them
Try and give them guidance
As seems food and shelter not enough
These offspring are not fully formed
When first enter this world
Are little people impressionable
Sponges at your feet
Sucking up what you do
And how you bloody speak
You who are so big
Know everything they don't
And most of all you know
Your knowledge is finite
There are holes oceans wide
In what you know and why
Why the world is as it is
A giant with feet of clay
Who sees in your brimming passion
In your love and search for answers
Shall soon overtake this flawed parent
Learn to stand on own two feet
Till you are giant too
Looking down from lofty perch
On what you have created
And from these heights view
All you will never know
And what I now say I knew.
