Monsters

Monsters

 ++ monsters ++
The monsters I have seen and met
Never appeared monstrous and yet
Had about them a lack of balance
Drunk to deeply from ego's chalice
Knew they knew all the world
Our views considered empty words
We did fail to grasp
Magnitude and glory of their plans
Not monstrous just ambitious
So these common monsters believed
Ready to do what must be done
To preserve or enhance the chosen one
A murder here or murder there
Who would notice or truly care
An entire race consigned for genocide
No place for vicitims to run and hide
As if hate seeped from their pores
As if all other wants subservient to theirs
Those monsters of the everyday
A priest scandalous in prayer
Politician who does not care
Foes with hatreds armed
Who beguile and our trust charm
They are the ones to be aware of
The monsters in plain view
Coming after me
And coming after you.
