Yar

Yar

 * Yar *
Olden time nautical sayings
Come crashing onto my consciousness
Ships were always
Clean cut of a jib
To describe a well mannered and solid ship
Beautiful at the prow
To describe a ship of beauty
Holds the head well
A ship capable of sitting well into the wind
All these expressions archaic to me
Though I guess wind driven sailors might use them still
Come to mind as you hove into view
You are a friend and I like the cut of your jib
Solid in loyalty and fierce in friendship
The hairdressers and fashion designers
Have managed to understand your needs
You catch the eye of those who pass
Enviously admiring your form and style
Indeed beautiful on the prow
And if life's battles flares
An unhelpful head wind rises
You do not turn and run
Instead you set a steady course
Unpertrubed by headwinds
You set your course as strongly as possible
To the destination you have set
And there was a Bing Crosby movie
With Grace Kelly being a terrible flirt
Where they described as yar
The perfect ship in line and action
A thing of beauty and love
And as you say hello
I realise how yar you are
And how entranced and captured I have become.
