Fail mightily to win

Fail mightily to win

 * fail mightily to win *
Failure should be your aim
After grand achievements made
Is no use being more prosperous
Climbing mountains ever higher
Moving from eleventh to eighth
On list of richest people
No true gain in that
People will not praise you
To earn their admiration
You must fail dismally
Allow some previously unseen character flaw
To wreak havoc with your perfect life
Sleep with the babysitter cross the street
Embezzle money meant for orphans
Drink and smoke away your talent
Marry your stepdaughter
And then begin again
Knowing your life will be an achievement
For every success you make
Be measured against how far you fell
Be a sense of recognition in watching fans
For this person in their self made hell
Want you to defeat your demons
Control the tragic flaw
Which so abruptly interrupted
The total success of your life
Show the inner torture you endure
To be the best you can be
Then hit the ball straighter longer
Give convicted felons financial advice
Tour the tournaments in your RV
Make a new movie or four
Be an interesting person
No longer merely rich
To the masses you have a story
Which endears you to them
As if you were one of them
An illusion you could swiftly dispel
If any got too near
As in your mansion you recline
Surrounded by pots of money
Writing your memoirs
About success and failure
And best of all success again.
