Window Angel

Window Angel

* window angel *

Frozen ghost of sight
Reflection in train window
The vaguries of light
Conceal your presence from me
Somewhere in the crowded carriage
You sit somewhat pensively
Leaning forward as if ready
To take flight immediately
When your station is reached
Or if your privacy breached
Half turned away from those sharing
The seats on which you sit
Dark scarf fallen open
A ribbon across pale white of top
Hair hangs straight and golden brown of ale
As the lady with pearl earring
Your delicate shell of ear exposed
A small round pearl in lobe sits
Tictac glossy whiteness shines
Your smile is not in residence
Been sent away today
Instead a steel barrier of concern
Conceals your thoughts from view
And how I wish I had the bravery
To stop and talk to you
Retrieve some words from your thoughts
Lighten load of life
Perhaps encourage smile to return
My reflected window spirit
On the morning train.
