Journey

Journey

* journey *
The bridge is never long enough
this river always broader
The crossing always deeper
Ford misplaced or washed away
There are no easy journeys
Timetables always missed
Luggage will be lost
Tickets left in hotel room drawers
Natural disasters many
Volcanic eruptions ash choking
Flood or drought or fire
Perhaps an outbreak of war
Simple case of civil disorder
A baggage handlers strike
No easy journeys exist
Enabling you to get from A to B
There are always conflicts
Hotel bookings unrecorded
Schedules used out of date
A new system for visas
Fresh taxes to pay
Mobile phone flat batteries
Accommodation too far away
From sights you want to see
Topographically challenged taxis
Which drive from A to Z not C
Easy journeys do not exist
Leaving your doorway an adventure
There are always issues
Challenges which arise
Disputes to be reconciled
Extra work to be performed
The journey is as much of life
As the destination at either end.
