Modern family and modern wife
We have enough to feed us
Dwelling secure and clothes warm
The rule of Law tamed our streets
Politics an electoral bore
There is the most likely fact
Die in beds of old age
Yet then we ask for more
To solve our issues of the spirit
Raised by such a comfortable life
Our cultural achievements measured
By going from 8 track to iPod
No longer working to produce
Anything of substance and value
Earning money by making money
Perform unnatural acts of procreation
Our farms are worked by so few
Manufacturing jobs are offshore
We are the truly comfortable
Beset with so many plights
We diligently seek to ignore
How our people are disconnected
Cities full of hate and bile
The unsteady realisation
At some time a reality check
Revaluation of what we hold dear
A need to fight for some greater good
Not the ability to place on every corner
Purveyours of fast food
We enjoy our lives without want
Pressing forward to discover
Some greater truth in this matter
To define our mortal lives
We have meaning and all we do
Is not fruitless and non-achieving
Instead we are part of
Some greater challenging journey
We are as yet incapable to define.
