Leave not undone

Leave not undone

 * leave not undone *
For the very best fictions
Are those we tell ourselves
In the quiet hours
When our hearts are troubled
Of all that we truly are
Knight shining upon a horse
A creature of such virtue
A paragon of truth and understanding
Is some surprise we are not a Unicorn
Crowned with a single spiralled horn
Rather than a human being
Who on two legs does struggle
Since very day was born
To equate life which is lead
To that to which should have led
As if Fate had singled us out
To catch our coat tails and hold us back
When in truth the observer sees
The only one holding us back
Is ourselves and how world perceive
This world of wonder we make so dark
Starvation of soul our only mark
Through the manner in which we live
Denying opportunities presented
As a river might choose easiest paths
Cut through oozing sliding mud
Rather than risk the rocky course
So much harder to accomplish
All the things you truly wish
Even harder if you do not start out
To do your best without a doubt
Unharnessed and untethered live
The best life you can give
For nothing surer in this world
That if you aim to not succeed
The world will not pause or care
For your life to one only truly matters
And when all is said and done
And upon your deathbed lie
Would you prefer to recall what you did not
Rather than all you have lived and done.
