A snuffling at the door
Followed by a scratching paw
The hound demands admittance
Some family love remittance
A debt gathered in her patrolling
Her barking at butterflies and birds extolling
My family live here move on
I am their dog on me their love shone
A chance of rain tonight
Wind at eaves whispers to fright
Small bodies in small beds
Nightmares threaten in their heads
A saviour near they require
Valiant warrior strong of claw and teeth desire
The hound demands admittance now
Will protect children with ferocious growl.
Soon sound of rain on roof
Signals a worried query woof
At a commercial break someone rises
Hound loudly celebrates life's surprises
As key in lock and door swings open
Hound with excitement barely coping
Bounds in with love and licks exploding
All now is well hound and family melding.
