then I hear the politicians speak

every answer a higher form of gibberish

can't cross a road without a chicken

never met a cliché they didn't like

make journalists appear literary geniuses

even through their spell-check fails

trying to find a new way of saying

the whole writing world is off the rails

for the Big Australian to sell more steel

the winners keep on winning

which has enforced pay cuts

for the common working joe

the language never grows better

to describe outrage in our hearts

Les Miserables arise

for the mortgages are daunting

crushed all dreams of buying

the quarter acre vision subdivided

and our soldiers are still fighting
