that ANZAC generation

that ANZAC generation

 +-- that ANZAC generation --+

Living examples of fame, flame and hell
Heroes of bullet, bomb and shell
Shed their blood in now sacred places
Where Nature labours to remove Man's brutal traces
Of the battles once there were
No living voices left to refer
To the boundless horror of those days
How nightmares remembrance sleepless night flays
Seeing friend and foe obliterated
Not knowing for whom next death was fated
A survivour-guilt riddled generation
Seeing in their children hope's regeneration
And twenty ones year later
Just after keys to door celebrated
A fresh and cruel inhuman war
Stole children and friends from the door
Another generation to fight bullet bomb and shell
Die or earn fame, flame and hell.
