Cubicle land

Cubicle land

 + cubicle land +
Shrieks of joy
Children running
Kindergarten days
Never infect corporate maze
In company lands
A smog of disapproval
Smug snobbery towards fun
As if a smile costs
Or each moment might incite
Rebellion against the board
A potential ceasing of all work
As workers suddenly realise
More to life than this
Buttoned down and cubicled
Oppressed in permanent gloom
From morning to noon
A brief escape to breath
Air not by boredom saturated
Before return to corporate Alcatraz
Where warders have glass offices
To ensure compliance
With every rule and order
Captain Blighs numerous
Marinettes in suits
Ready with disapproval
For any leisurely pursuits
Afternoon a marathon
Minutes of plodding torture
Till Time finally expires
a jaunty dash for freedom
First breath of delight
The world has meaning new
Till next morning when must wake
And again the office chores pursue.
